The Sound You Are Hearing Is Air Leaking Across A Damaged Gasket Or A Warped Sealing Surface.

Transmissions with more aggressively cut gears make more noise. With the throttle closed, or in deceleration mode, the manifold pressure is very low and if there is a leak anywhere in the induction system that should normally be sealed, you will hear the (very common) whistle. Throttle is closed or if it’s throttle closed or in deceleration mode the manifold pressure is extremely low, which means any leaking of gas in the induction system should be sealed.

This is the reason that both race cars and large vehicles (trucks, buses) make a ton of transmission noise, which is more evident on deceleration because engine noise is much less. I had an oil, oil filter, air filter and fuel filter change last weekend as it was due one and the van ran fine all week. New oil and filter and air filter did not fix it.
